Cornwall Bakery offers a variety of Culinary Classes to help the novice / home chef develop and refine their culinary skills. Our classes are educational, hands on, engaging and fun! Choose from our courses listed, or create your own private class or culinary party with minimum of 10 students. To arrange a private class or culinary party – please email us, stop in or call. All culinary students will receive a 10% discount on any purchases made in the bakery the day of their class.
Cornwall also offers Corporate Team Building and Leadership Development in the form of culinary classes, food challenges and competitions. If your company or corporation is looking for a new and engaging team building event – consider a “cake-wars” or “iron-chef” style competition or food challenge. Corporate team building events are typically 3-hours and can be combined with dinner at a local restaurant. Teams will be under the direction of a Cornwall professional chef who will guide them to a winning creation! Cornwall provides all the supplies, encouragement and judging of the competition. Your teams can enjoy their creations after the event, take them home, or we can arrange to deliver them to your office the following day.
Freeman Gunnell, proprietor of Cornwall Bakery in Grosse Pointe Park is a graduate of the School for American Chefs, Beringer Vineyards at Napa Valley, California as well as Cuisine Regionale of France from Le Cordon Bleu, Paris, France. His well-rounded career includes working as chef de cuisine and as a pastry chef in gourmet restaurants as well as corporate and private settings. Awarded the prestigious IACP (International Association of Culinary Professionals) pastry award to study at Ecole Lenotre in Paris, France and three-time recipient of the IDDBA Scholarships (International Dairy-Deli Bakery Association), 2007- 2009. He graduated Schoolcraft College with high honors in the Culinary Arts, Pastry and Baking Programs. He has an extensive 20 year culinary history working in fine dining and gaining experience in breads and pastries working under the direction of renowned chefs including Wolfgang Puck, Madeleine Kamman and Jimmy Schmidt.
Megan Gunnell, LMSW, MT-BC, is a psychotherapist in private practice in Grosse Pointe, Michigan. Megan specializes in women’s issues and couples therapy. She supports personal transformative work through a practice grounded in mindfulness as well as integrative medicine and the healing arts. Megan offers traditional talk therapy with a focus on cognitive behavioral therapy and self-care. Megan received her Masters from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor and her B.A. from Michigan State University.
Megan and Freeman were married in 1998 and have 2 children. They have co-facilitated wellness retreats in Costa Rica and Food and Wine Tours in Tuscany. They share a love for creativity, the arts, health, cooking and travel.
